Tennis Courts

Allow for baseline recovery, lateral movement and the ball response expected by your players.

A Surface for Baseline Play and Court Coverage

A tennis surface is selected around how the ball and player interact with the whole installed floor. Clarify singles or doubles use, training or club play, and the space behind the baselines before comparing tile constructions.

Pace and bounce

Bring your preferred tennis balls to the sample comparison. Explore how surface texture and joints feel during practice, then choose the construction that best fits your court priorities.

Room to recover

Give players space behind the baselines and along the sidelines. Include that extra flooring area when positioning fences, access gates and seating.

Finish the court details

Coordinate net posts, line colors and perimeter edges in one layout. For outdoor courts, include drainage and expansion allowances in the installation plan.

ITF dimensions and clearance guidance

Dimensions below are length × width unless stated otherwise. Playing lines and the total usable footprint are different measurements.

Doubles court
23.77 × 10.97 m

Length × width. Singles uses the same length and an 8.23 m width.

Club / recreational guidance
5.48 m behind; 3.05 m beside

Recommended minimum distance from each baseline to backstop and each sideline to sidestop.

International guidance
6.40 m behind; 3.66 m beside

Recommended minimum clearances for international competitions.

The playing court and surrounding clearances together define the flooring area. Contrasting surrounds distinguish the court from recovery space.
